Good Tuesday morning everyone! Today I wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on a few things.
First of all, I want to thank you again for your continued support. I am humbled, deeply honored, and incredibly excited to announce that I was named RAW Minneapolis Visual Artist of the Year - RAW is an international organization for artists, by artists and their mission is to provide artists in the first 10 years of their career with the tools, resources, and exposure needed to be successful in their creativity. As a city finalist, I am now in the running for the national competition. One out of 38 will be awarded career building and life changing prizes. These results will be announced online - www.rawartists.org - on March 2nd! THANK YOU again!
Secondly, I wanted to reflect further on a quote that I posted on facebook a few days back. I do this each day, often accompanied by a photo, but this particular quote by Terry Tempest Williams (American author, conservationist, and activist) caught my attention in a different way than most.

Wildness reminds us what it means to be human...
Being human is messy. It means making mistakes, feeling pain & love, being confused and not having answers. Being human means having routines and living with unpredictability. It means fighting and giving in to urges, whatever they may be. It means forgiving and forgetting, holding grudges and feeling anger. Being human means having compassion, feeling guilt, surrendering to duty, and living for oneself. It means feeling joy and being excited. Being human means so many things that make sense and some that contradict. There is no right or wrong way to be human.
Wildness - of mind, body, spirit, or environment - reminds us of just what is important in this life. Wildness, like the wilderness, strips us of what distracts our hearts & minds and reminds us of who we are at the core.
